Display or Hide the Contents Bar

The Contents Bar is the horizontal strip on the top of search results. It is configurable from Contents Tab in Set Default Preferences. The settings availalbe are:

  • Hide the Contents Bar. The Contents Bar is enabled by default.
  • Reveal Content Sources in Content Bar. The bar can be populated either with all the content sources or content types (objects) linked to the search client.
  • Reveal Content Types in Content Bar . You can drag the most used content sources (or content types) to the left, thereby making their usage easier.

Next, each setting is described in detail.

Hide the Contents Bar

By default the content tabs toggle remains enabled. When the toggle is enabled, Content sources indexes remains selected by default which means the content sources will be visible in the content bar. To hide the content bar, toggle off Display content tabs and click Save

  1. Each search client possesses its own Contents Bar. To display the bar on any one, open it for editing from Search Clients.

  2. Go to Content Sources and click Set Default Preferences.

  1. Toggle off Display Content Tabs.
  2. Click Save.

Reveal Content Sources or Content Types

In the default set-up, content sources are selected to be displayed in the content bar. However, admins can switch between Content Sources and Content Sources Indices. The admin can also drag and drop the indices as per their preference order from left to right

  1. Each search client possesses its own Contents Bar. To display the bar on any one, open it for editing from Search Clients.

  2. Go to Content Sources and click Set Default Preferences.

  1. Toggle on Display Content Tabs.
  2. Click Save to display a Contents Bar with content sources. Alternative, check Sources Facet first and then click Save to display a Contents Bar with Content Types.

Reveal Content Type in Content Bar

Select the Sources facet to enable this setting. Admins can also drag and drop the indices as per their preference order from left to right. When this option is selected Sources Facet shall not be shown on the search client and in the Facets tab at the top (next to Content Tabs).

  1. Each search client possesses its own Contents Bar. To display the bar on any one, open it for editing from Search Clients.

  2. Go to Content Sources and click Set Default Preferences.

  1. Use to change the relative position of a content source or content type in the Contents Bar. The topmost row takes the leftmost position.
  2. Save the settings.
